Magento Attribute Groups and Unassigned Attributes
The next pane is where you actually create attribute, assign attributes to Attribute Group and Set. The column on the right contains all unassigned attributes and in the middle you can see attribute groups (as folders) and assigned attributes (as items in those folders).

Attribute Groups
As we mentioned above, in the middle pane you can see Magento attribute groups (as folders) and assigned attributes (as items in those folders). You can drug them and drop into the Unassigned Attributes pane to unassign them.
When you select different Magento Attribute sets, you will see a list of groups assigned to this Set. Please note that the same Group can be assigned only to one Attribute Set as well as attribute can be assigned only to one Group in a specific Set. Also you can move the same attribute between Groups withing one Set only.
You can see Attribute Sets/Groups pane under the Attribute Groups pane. All Sets/Groups assigned to highlighted attribute (in the Attribute Groups pane). Also you can move selected attribute between Groups withing one Set and remove it from Group checking or unchecking appropriate check-boxes.
You can check or uncheck Group or Set in order remove or add attribute from/to the list. Note that you cannot remove system attributes from any list.
You can perform the following Basic Operations:
- Add new product attribute group calls blank Edit attribute group form, which is used to create a new attribute group within this Magento attribute set. Groups determine certain display options/sort order in the front-end so you should use informative names like “Hardware”.
- To edit attribute group you can double click on it or use edit attribute group button. It calls edit attribute group form for highlighted attribute group.

- You can delete selected attribute group from your store. Pay attention that you won’t be able to undo delete from store operation unless you’ve made d-base backup.
- Also you can expand or collapse groups list manually or use Expand/Collapse button.
There are 3 types of attributes:
User Defined Attributes – you can add, edit, delete them.
Visible System Attributes – You can move them between groups but you cannot add, modify or delete them.
Invisible System Attributes – Those are system attributes used by your Shopping Cart – for internal use only. You cannot add, modify or delete them.
Unassigned Attributes
This section shows attributes that are not included in currtenly selected attribute set. Select unassigned attribute from the list and pay attention to the area below to see Attribute Sets/Groups this attribute is assigned to.
Drag Attribute from the Unassigned Attributes list and drop it into any Group in the Attributes Section in order to assign one.
Finally, using this Toolbar in the column on the right you can add, edit or delete attributes:
- Add attribute calls blank Edit Attribute form, which is used to create a new attribute.
- To edit attribute you can double click on it or use Edit button. It calls edit attribute form for selected attribute.

- You can delete address from your store using appropriate button. You won’t be able to undo delete from store option, unless you’ve made a Magento database backup.
- To adjust columns width use
icon or enable column auto width option
