In this article we will address the steps you need to take in order to configure successful scheduled uploads of Magento custom options.
Step 1: Create Custom Options Import Configuration
To configure settings for custom options import, navigate to Addons -> Automated Import section of ribbon menu. There you will see a drop-down to select type of entities you want to automate upload for. Select Magento automated custom options import and press ‘Create or modify import configuration’.
Then select CSV file from your local PC where info on custom options will be taken from. Use button with three dots to browse computer folders.
Preview the spreadsheet, paying attention to symbols used as data separators in your file. You will need this at the next step.
So as was mentioned, here you need to indicate delimiter symbol used in your file. By default comma is used, though in case you have specific case of data formatting, you can specify custom separator.
Additionally, Store Manager for Magento allows you to import data by store view (one at a time).
One of the most important settings is assigning CSV columns to database fields. In case their names coincide, they will be associated automatically. If not, you can map them yourself without manual file format adjusting before import. Just click database field on the right and click on appropriate file column on the left. Mind that mapped columns are marked in black and unmapped in red.
Finally, you need to configure pre-import task and import method for your upload procedure. Additionally you can also make snapshot that will be used to display autoimport changes, though take into account, that it might slow down the process.
When all the settings are made, give your configuration some meaningful name and press ‘Save’ button.
Step 2: Schedule Magento Automated Custom Options Import
After configuration was created and saved, you can make it running automatically at set time intervals. To do so, select name of configuration from drop-down. Then you need to add current task to scheduler by pressing the appropriate button.
In the window appearing you can set up schedule for cron task and its regularity, if you want it to be repeated.
Step 3: Check the Results
As was mentioned above, if you have selected snapshot option, you can see and comparison between data before import in your database and after the procedure. It will be visualized and marked with different colors: green - new data, blue - modified, red - deleted.
Moreover, in case you have used the corresponding option and have SMTP settings set, you can get notification on import results via email.
